It seems that for some the temptation of easy money is too much. Putnam County sheriff, Mark Frisbie resigned from his post, amid an investigation into the inappropriate spending of department funds.

A state audit last year, found that Frisbie had spent thousands of dollars from the department's commissary fund on personal items. These included first-class tickets for his family to Florida, a limousine tour of Washington and lunch at a Hooters restaurant. As a result, Frisbie was ordered to pay back about $4,300. 

Frisbie's attorney said his client didn't want to involve the sheriff's department in the investigation, claiming that there was no way he could have stayed as sheriff without dragging the whole department into the dispute. Putnam County Republican officials will hold a caucus early next month to elect an interim sheriff
